Sentinel has been a proud supporter of the MS Society for over a decade, and four years ago we chose to play an even bigger support role with the debut of our Team Truck Contest.
The contest is in support of the Johnson Bike Tour from Leduc to Camrose, as well as the Johnson Bike Tour from Airdrie to Olds.
Last year’s July 2014 Leduc to Airdrie Team Truck contest winners was team Gregor Bombs of Edmonton. This team truly blew us away with the amount of equipment they were able to store and transport, not to mention the creative transformation of the truck once they arrived in Camrose.
What they stored:
- A whopping 13 Bicycles!
- 1 beer cooler
- 13+ bags of luggage
- 13 Lawn chairs
- Two Massage Chairs
Once in Camrose, the truck was converted into a mini massage therapy room!
Two massage tables were set up and all 13 Gregor Bomb team members had their muscles unkinked, stretched and soothed.
When temperatures started to chill, the large roll-up door of the truck was dropped halfway to act as a shield and keep everyone warm from the elements.
Lasty, the Sentinel truck became a rescue shuttle for 2 of the 13 cycle teammates after injuries occurred during the tour. Both members were chauffeured via Sentinel’s winning truck to Nisku for minor medical attention, but of course a trip isn’t the same without a quick burger stop along the way.
It’s wonderful to learn how our truck was able to help a team succeed and we can’t wait to help out the next one.
