SPRING CLEANING STORAGE LOCKER TIPS AND WHY YOU SHOULD BEAT THE RUSH

When the seasons change it is a great time to get organized, you can begin to free up some space in your home by placing items you no longer need in Parksville storage, Victoria storage, Kamloops storage, Kamloops North storage, Coquitlam storage, Surrey storage, Saanich storage, Langley storage or Mission storage facilities.  The space that you can create in your closet alone by packing up all of those winter jackets, sweaters and boots alone is worth the extra effort.  You will not be the only one looking into your storage locker options though,  The start of spring is a very busy time for storage locker facilities, so you should get organised quickly to make sure that you can get the right unit for you.

The hardest part about getting your Parksville, Victoria, Kamloops, Coquitlam, Surrey, Saanich, Langley or Mission storage locker sorted is the first few organizational steps.  The very first thing that you need to do is to grab a lot of large cardboard boxes and a pen.  The importance of labeling the boxes you are planning to place in your storage locker cannot be overstated.  You will be very grateful when it comes time to reorganize for next winter.

Spring Cleaning Tips

You need to clean and organize your locker before you start. If you are using a storage locker for the first time, the locker will be clean and you will have nothing in there so you can skip this step.  When attempting to reorganize your existing locker you need to begin by getting everything you need for the spring and/or summer.  The last thing you want is to suddenly remember that you left your beach gear at the back of your storage locker.

As you are approaching the organization of your Parksville storage, Victoria storage, Kamloops storage, Kamloops North storage, Coquitlam storage, Surrey storage, Saanich storage, Langley storage or Mission storage locker by season, you need to think carefully about what you will need and when. For example, you may want to keep all of your skiing gear together, rather than having to open one box for pants and one box for jackets before you go on that skiing trip next winter.  Try to think logically and try to do your future self-favours.

Don’t be afraid to throw things away. To get the most out of your storage locker, you need to be ruthless.  This means throwing things out that you do not need.  Specifically, anything and everything that you will not use again and does not hole sentimental value for any member of your family.  You should be certain that none of your family members is holding onto the item that you are considering disposing of before you throw it out.

If you haven’t touched a box in your Parksville, Victoria, Kamloops, Coquitlam, Surrey, Saanich, Langley or Mission storage locker in over a year, it may be time to see if you can donate or get rid of it.

In addition to labeling each box it is also wise to keep an inventory of what is in each box, maybe in an excel document, or even a piece of paper works fine. This will allow you to know at a glance where to find a specific item that you are looking for.  It also helps to identify which family member each item belongs to.  So, if you are looking for John’s hat, make sure that you clearly not who it belongs to in the inventory list.  If you just write ‘hat’ next fall you will not remember whose hat is in that particular box.  It takes a little extra effort to have your storage locker organized like this but it is really worth it in the long run.
