July 11, 2023July in Calgary can only mean one thing: It’s Stampede time!For more than a century, cowboys and cowgirls from Alberta and beyond have gathered in Calgary for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede">Calgary Stampede</a>. &nbsp;The 10-day event is hard to define in a universal way. It is a rodeo, cultural exhibition, family event, world class concert and Alberta tradition all wrapped up into one fun-filled experience. There truly is something for everyone and Sentinel Storage is once again proud to be there. &nbsp;We are especially excited to be a sponsor of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede/shows/evening/relay-races">Indigenous Relay Races</a> at this year’s Calgary Stampede. Sentinel Storage has been honoured to be involved with the Relay Races for several years, as one of the founding sponsors of this important cultural and athletic event. &nbsp;If you have never seen an Indigenous Relay Race before, it is hard to fully express just how thrilling this contest is. It features teams of bareback riders racing three laps of the track at breathtaking speed. That’s exciting enough until you learn that there is a twist. &nbsp;The rider must change horses after each lap! Yes, you read that right! With the assistance of horse handlers in the exchange zone, the rider must leap off one hose and onto another before completing the next lap. &nbsp;It’s incredibly athletic and the crowds love it. &nbsp;The relay races also hold deep cultural significance to the indigenous population in Alberta. The origins of the sport can be traced back more than 300 years and are tied into food gathering practices of the Tribes that lived on what is now known as the Canadian Prairies. So, for the aboriginal athletes involved it’s not just a competition. It’s also a deeply felt and significant connection to their past and their ancestors.It’s for all those reasons that Sentinel Storage is excited to be a part of this wonderful and unique part of the Calgary Stampede. &nbsp;Sentinel Storage will also be sponsoring three breakfast events at this year’s Calgary Stampede. As anyone that has been to a Calgary Stampede knows, the free breakfasts are a highlight of the 10 days and we are thrilled to have an expanded role in this tradition in 2023.Above all else, the Calgary Stampede is a celebration of Alberta’s unique and vibrate culture and as Alberta’s storage leaders, Sentinel Storage is once again thrilled to be a part of this great event. &nbsp;We can’t wait to see you at the Stampede! Sentinel Storage is thrilled to sponsor the Indigenous Relay races at the 2023 Calgary Stampede

11 juillet 2023 &nbsp;Le mois de juillet à Calgary ne peut signifier qu'une chose : c'est le temps du Stampede ! &nbsp;Depuis plus d'un siècle, les cow-boys et les cow-girls de l'Alberta et d'ailleurs se rassemblent à Calgary pour le plus grand spectacle en plein air de la planète, le <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede">Calgary Stampede</a>. &nbsp; &nbsp;Cet événement de dix jours est difficile à définir de manière universelle. Il s'agit d'un rodéo, d'une exposition culturelle, d'un événement familial, d'un concert de classe mondiale et d'une tradition albertaine, le tout réuni en une seule expérience amusante. Il y en a vraiment pour tous les goûts et Sentinel Storage est une fois de plus fière d'être présente. &nbsp;Nous sommes particulièrement heureux d'être un commanditaire des courses à <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede/shows/evening/relay-races">relais indigènes</a> au Stampede de Calgary de cette année. Sentinel Storage a eu l'honneur de participer aux courses à relais pendant plusieurs années, en tant que l'un des commanditaires fondateurs de cet important événement culturel et athlétique. &nbsp;Si vous n'avez jamais assisté à une course à relais indigène, il est difficile d'exprimer à quel point cette compétition est passionnante. Des équipes de cavaliers à cru parcourent trois tours de piste à une vitesse époustouflante. C'est assez excitant jusqu'à ce que vous appreniez qu'il y a un rebondissement. &nbsp;Le cavalier doit changer de cheval après chaque tour ! Oui, vous avez bien lu ! Avec l'aide des préposés aux chevaux dans la zone d'échange, le cavalier doit sauter d'un tuyau à l'autre avant d'effectuer le tour suivant. &nbsp;C'est incroyablement athlétique et les foules adorent. &nbsp; &nbsp;Les courses de relais ont également une profonde signification culturelle pour la population autochtone de l'Alberta. Les origines de ce sport remontent à plus de 300 ans et sont liées aux pratiques de collecte de nourriture des tribus qui vivaient dans ce que l'on appelle aujourd'hui les Prairies canadiennes. Pour les athlètes autochtones concernés, il ne s'agit donc pas seulement d'une compétition. Il s'agit également d'un lien profond et significatif avec leur passé et leurs ancêtres. &nbsp;C'est pour toutes ces raisons que Sentinel Storage est ravi de participer à cette partie merveilleuse et unique du Stampede de Calgary. &nbsp;Sentinel Storage parrainera également trois petits-déjeuners lors du Stampede de Calgary de cette année. Comme le savent tous ceux qui ont assisté au Calgary Stampede, les petits-déjeuners gratuits sont l'un des points forts des dix jours et nous sommes ravis de jouer un rôle plus important dans cette tradition en 2023. &nbsp;Avant tout, le Calgary Stampede est une célébration de la culture unique et vibrante de l'Alberta et, en tant que leader de l'entreposage en Alberta, Sentinel Storage est une fois de plus ravi de faire partie de ce grand événement. &nbsp;Nous avons hâte de vous voir au Stampede !
